Just a few days before the 2022 Italian Grand Prix in Monza, PETRONAS Lubricants International Global Research and Technology Centre hosted the Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS Formula One Team drivers, Lewis Hamilton and George Russell. For the very first time, George Russell visited the state-of-the-art PETRONAS Global Research and Technology Centre where the fluid technology is developed, including the lubricants that are used to power the silver arrows.

The drivers’ visit was also graced with the presence of Datuk Sazali Hamzah, Executive Vice President, Downstream Business PETRONAS and Hezlinn Fariss Idris, PLI GCEO, who gave their speeches on stage. Among the VIPs present at the staff engagement were also Bacho Pilong, Senior Vice President Project Delivery & Technology; Domenico Ciaglia, Regional Managing Director EMEA and Ravi Tallamraju, Chief Technology Officer.
"It is a privilege for me to be visiting for the first time the PETRONAS plant in Santena, Italy a centre where excellence is evident at every level, and also to get into the heart of research, development and production," says George Russell. "Discovering how the fluids that enable us to achieve the results we are achieving are developed and produced is fascinating and gives us an even deeper understanding of how much expertise is needed to take innovation and technology to the highest levels. Also, alongside the 'brains' of Fluid Technology Solutions™, it was exciting to discover how much heart and passion is put into PETRONAS lubricants by all the people who work in this plant."

The visit by the two drivers was also an opportunity for PLI's staff to celebrate their return to work with excitement. It was an opportunity to become even more aware of how crucial their individual contribution is in achieving excellent results that really make a difference.
